The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for promoting the mission and programs of AWBW to increase awareness and knowledge of the organization, as well as grow AWBW’s supporter base. They work closely with the Associate Director of Philanthropy and Communications and will develop and execute communications efforts showcasing AWBW’s different narrative to promote the growth, retention, and stewardship of donors as well as support programmatic work of the organization.
Below is a summary of the overall responsibilities of the position, but these may not be comprehensive. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

In conjunction with the Associate Director, develop data-driven strategies and execute communication campaigns to retain, grow, and upgrade donors, Facilitators, and other audiences across multiple channels.

Manage recurring and one-off communications creation and templates, including: social media, donor acquisition, event and training invitations, blog posts, acknowledgement letters, emails, and others as needed.

Maintain a primary communication calendar mapping all multi-channel messaging.

Manage content updates for the website.

Maintain productive vendor relationships as the primary contact with comms and print vendors.

Work collaboratively to create strategies on the use of database systems.

Assist in tracking KPIs of communications engagements.

Stay abreast of industry related best practices.

Draft occasional letter and email templates for different use cases, including gift acknowledgement, renewals, upgrades.

Draft, layout, and send digital communications and direct mail to donors and community stakeholders.

Support Executive Director with presentations, speeches, letter writing, and materials as needed.

Oversee strategy and deployment of content on social media channels, organic and paid.

Manage website content, including making regular updates and adjustments to language and visuals.

Oversee the creation of digital and print materials, including brochures, media kit, fact sheets, handouts, postcards, use cases, and event materials.

Oversee development of organizational and programmatic promotional videos and imagery.

Create and maintain an annual Communications production schedule in conjunction with management and oversee implementation of the goals and strategies included in the plan.

Oversee consistency in branding, visually and in language, for all external communications and materials.

Project manage and execute the layout, writing, and editing of the Annual/Impact Report.

Develop and refine interview scripts in conjunction with various department heads for both internal and external promotional materials.

Maintain a style guide for use by staff and Board.

Layout, assist in writing, and editing promotional materials for recruitment of new partners, including for trainings, nontraditional partners, and corporate wellness partnerships.

Support Program Department in overseeing development of training videos.

Assist with updates to evaluation strategies, both with language and user experience.

Work closely with Program Department to collect, edit, and distribute stories, quotes, and artwork from participants and facilitators, following up with facilitators as appropriate.

3 years of experience in the nonprofit sector

Very strong communication skills: written and oral

2 years experience with bulk email platforms (eg. Constant Contact or MailChimp) and audience segmentation strategy

2 years experience generating external communications, including social media content and overseeing deployment on multiple platforms for an organization

1 year experience overseeing vendor relationships

Familiarity with Google Analytics

Undergraduate Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.

Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace.

Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.

Familiarity with WordPress web management platform.

Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams.

Familiarity with trauma-informed mental wellness practices and/or experience working with survivors of trauma.
