On Saturday, May 6th, A Window Between Worlds’ annual art festival, Art in the Afternoon, returned to the Venice Skills Center. Hosted by Actress and Advocate G Hannelius, known for her starring role in “Dog with a Blog” this event was attended by over 700 guests including many teen celebrities, AWBW supporters and families from all over Los Angeles. We raised over $77,000 thanks to our guests, Host Committee, 25 Corporate Partners, and generous Event Sponsors! Proceeds will directly benefit AWBW’s network of transformative arts programs through funding scholarships, art supplies, trainings, curriculum development and the launching of new programs.
Admission included a variety of art workshops available for all ages including Resilience Rainsticks inspired by an AWBW workshop collaboration with the authors of children’s book “The Rhino Who Swallowed a Storm.” Guests also created a beautiful garden of growth mural, chalk art, shrinky dinks and Touchstones.
Everyone’s favorite In-N-Out Burger® Cookout was present with support from Panda Express, Fresh Brothers, snacks from Nature’s Bakery and Gogo SqueeZ, as well as refreshments from Hubert’s Lemonade and Giggle Juice. This year’s special dessert sponsor was our new Venice neighbor, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams!
G Hannelius reunited with her “Dog with a Blog” co-stars to share the fun! Blake Michael got that crowd energized with his DJ set, and Kayla Maisonet (now starring on “Stuck in the Middle”) joined G and Universal Studios‘ Curious George in our Live Auction Presentation. Other celebrity guests included August “Auggie” Maturo (“Girl Meets World”); Benjamin Royer and Matthew Royer (“Best Friends Whenever”); Allisyn Ashley Arm (“Sonny with a Chance” & “So Random!”); Dylan Riley Snyder (“Kickin’ It”); Karan Brar, Nathan Arenas and Nina Lu (“Bunk’d”); Brandon Severs (“Walk the Prank”); Trinitee Stokes (“K.C. Undercover”); Kamran Lucas (“Mech-X4”); LJ Benet and Francesca Capaldi (“Dog With a Blog”).
