| | Awakening, from the Asian/Pacific Islander Art Journal: "I got away because I saw the end of the road in that relationship was death. That’s what woke me up and helped me begin to break away. And that was the most dagerous part—when danger can turn into more violence. I didn’t want to die and that was my motivation to take a chance. This artwork represents the crack in my door to a safe place I may have found." —M.S.

ALERT: We are currently out of stock of Latina Art Journals and are seeking funding to reprint. To submit a letter requesting a reprint, click here. Silence is one reason domestic violence continues to flourish in communities. A Window Between Worlds sponsors art exhibits and publications to help break this silence.
Art provides an extremely accessible resource for cultural expression, community education, and outreach that is all the more powerful when it reflects the experiences of a particular identity – then, others of that same identity learn that they are not alone.
To date, we have published the
Latina Art Journal(now in its third edition) and the
Asian/Pacific Islander Art Journal, Rising, published in June, 2005.
We are accepting contributions of art from survivors for possible publication in journals focused on African American, Native American Indian, Teens, and Women Battered by Women.
Let us know if you’d like to help create a new Cultural Journal or contribute to a Journal in process.
