This special mid-summer workshop will be introduced by Pearls of Wisdom: End the Violence project artist
KIM ABELES and led by
SANDRA MUELLER, project chair.

Centered on the metaphor of a pearl as a vibrant treasure formed by an irritant, we will follow the symbolic journey of the pearl in our artmaking from
reflecting on our vulnerability to
wrapping it in colorful layers, then
casting in plaster for durability and finally,
embellishing with iridescent paints to share our strengths with others.
Each pearl made at this special BeARTrageous workshop becomes part of the "community of wisdom" generated by survivors and the broader community across the state — a two year community engagement project to end domestic violence that will culminate with a major exhibition in March 2011 in the contemporary gallery of the Korean Cultural Center.
Limited spaces available. All materials provided and a light breakfast tea will be served.
Sign up below and then email Sandra at beARTrageous@awbw.org to reserve a space. $25 workshop donation for one person or $40 when you come with a friend. All proceeds benefit the healing work of A Window Between Worlds. Work scholarships available -- no one is turned away for lack of funds.
